Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

True Plate respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how True Plate collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, app, and related services.

If you have questions, contact us at support@trueplate.app.

Overview

True Plate helps people explore restaurant experiences shared by others with allergies, celiac disease, intolerances, sensitivities, dietary needs, and food preferences.

To provide this service, True Plate may collect information you choose to share, information created through your use of the app, and limited technical information used to operate, protect, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create or use a True Plate account, we may collect information such as name or display name, email address, sign-in provider, user ID, account settings, and support communications.

Food profile information

True Plate may collect food needs that you choose to add to your profile, such as allergies, celiac or gluten-related needs, intolerances, sensitivities, religious or ethical dietary needs, and food preferences. We use this information to help show restaurant experiences that may be more relevant to your selected food needs.

Restaurant experiences and submissions

When you share a restaurant experience or submit restaurant information, True Plate may collect restaurant name and location, what you ordered, the food need involved, preparation or cross-contact information that was discussed, what staff or menu labels communicated, whether a concern was reported, optional notes, optional photos, and the date or general time period of the experience, if provided. Parts of a shared restaurant experience may be visible to other users.

Photos

If you upload photos, True Plate may store and display those photos as part of your restaurant experience. Please avoid uploading photos that include faces, receipts, names, medical information, addresses, phone numbers, or other private information.

Location information

True Plate may use approximate location, ZIP code, or device location permission to help show nearby restaurants. You can control device location permissions through your device settings.

Country launch updates

If you join the country launch list on our website, we collect the email address and country you submit so we can tell you when True Plate becomes available there. We do not use this list for unrelated marketing. You can ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing support@trueplate.app.

Device, usage, and technical information

True Plate may collect limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, such as device type, browser or app information, approximate usage activity, crash or diagnostic information if enabled, and security and abuse-prevention signals.

How we use information

True Plate may use information to create and manage accounts; personalize restaurant evidence for selected food needs; show relevant community experiences; allow users to share restaurant experiences; review, moderate, or remove submissions; protect reviewer privacy; prevent abuse, spam, fraud, or harmful activity; respond to support requests; send country-launch updates you asked for; process account deletion requests; improve the app, website, and user experience; and comply with legal obligations.

Public restaurant experiences

When you share a restaurant experience, parts of that experience may be shown to other users. True Plate may show structured information such as the food need involved, what was ordered, what was reported, whether a concern was reported, public-safe need labels, and photos if appropriate and allowed.

True Plate may limit, sanitize, or hide details to protect reviewer privacy, especially for rare, sensitive, or potentially identifying experiences. Do not include private medical details or identifying information in public submissions.

Restaurant-provided information and sponsored visibility

True Plate may display restaurant-provided information or sponsored visibility. Sponsored visibility does not change community experiences, recent concerns, reports, or other restaurant evidence shown on True Plate.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate, host, secure, analyze, or support True Plate; when you choose to submit information that is meant to be shown publicly; when required by law or legal process; to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of True Plate, users, restaurants, or others; to investigate abuse, fraud, or security issues; and in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets.

Service providers may process information on our behalf only as needed to support the service.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the True Plate app by going to Profile → Account settings → Delete account. You can also learn more at trueplate.app/account-deletion.

When you delete your account, True Plate deletes your account profile and removes or anonymizes personal information associated with public experiences. Some public experiences may be anonymized rather than fully removed so True Plate can preserve non-identifying community evidence.

Data that may be retained

True Plate may retain information when needed to preserve non-identifying community evidence; prevent abuse, spam, or fraud; comply with legal obligations; maintain security records; resolve disputes; enforce our Terms of Service; or operate backup or logging systems for a limited time.

Your choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain information, object to or limit certain processing, withdraw certain permissions, or request more information about how your data is used. Contact support@trueplate.app.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to help protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

True Plate is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.

Third-party links

True Plate may include links to third-party websites, restaurants, services, or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites or services.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the “Last updated” date above or provide additional notice in the app or on the website.
